Applying to universities abroad is not a single form but a preparation process spread over two to three years. Getting the timeline right removes most of the final-year stress.
Grade 10: the discovery year
Clarify your interests and start researching countries and majors. Strengthen your English foundation; a first PSAT experience can happen this year.
Grade 11: the exam year
Digital SAT/ACT preparation and the first official sitting should be completed this year. It is also the best window for IELTS/TOEFL. Start essay drafts over the summer.
Grade 12: application season
- September-October: finalise the university list, request reference letters
- November: Early Decision/Action deadlines
- December-January: Regular Decision submissions
- March-April: offers, comparison and the final choice
In our Overseas University Counselling programme we run the whole journey one-to-one — from list building to essay editing and interview practice.
